Some vehicle models that are best for the 3 across seats in the rear seat are Minivans. But as compared to this fitting three child in the compact vehicles is the more challenging part. First, the roomy vehicles will make fitting three car seats a whiff. The first thing is vehicle types, this thing matters with the car seats.

Car seats that fit 3 across manual#
You must read your carseat and vehicle owner’s manual and understand any relevant state laws. Neither the Honda nor the Passat allow center LATCH use, btw. You may have to play around with LATCH vs seatbelt and different arrnagements (two Radians together, infant seat in the middle, three Radians with one rear facing).
Car seats that fit 3 across install#
Give it some tries, but I think you'll be ok if you can get the Radians to install well. Two Radians and a Britax Wizard, or two Wizards and a Radian. Though I didn't try two forward facing next to one another (I only have two Radians, I have to extrapolate the third position), and right now his car is at the airport, so I can't try. I can fit three Radians across the back of my husband's A4. The bases of the Radians are 14" wide, so with one rear facing in the middle you'd have them very close together without shoulder room being a bother. Use one rear facing for the baby, then the other two forward facing. The Passat should be pretty similar, though their LATCH limits go to 48 pounds, so that may make it easier.
Not to mention Honda's LATCH points are offset toward the center of the car, so you'd likely have to do a seatbelt installation to get the seats further to the outside so you could fit all three across. Which if you have kids over 40 pounds you'll need to do as that's Honda's LATCH limit. Though the Radian can be tricky to install, at least with leather seats, with the seatbelt.
So I'd guess you could get two Radians and an infant seat across an Accord. Me in the middle with my size six tush, then my 6'1" 220 pound brother behind the passenger. Course, it was my daughter with the Radian installed offset with the LATCH behind the driver. I've had three across in an Accord with a Radian (65, but they're the same exact size, so unless you need the extra 15 pounds, or want the extra padding, save yourself the $70 each and get the 65s).
